Last
time, Ray interviewed Noah for the news update.
One band member interviewing other band members is going to be our
new format until we get sick of it or until our fans get sick of it,
whichever comes first. So for
this update, Todd interviewed Joey and Mike.
(For those of you who don’t know Mike, he was our original lead
guitarist and has played the last few shows with us after a long hiatus
away from the band.) Let’s
listen in:
Todd:
Hey, hey, HEY! Check one,
check two. Hey, hey, HEY!
Joey:
So anyway, we had a pretty fun and awesome week last week.
Mike:
You just said the word “week” twice in the same sentence.
Todd:
So why don’t you explain what went on last week.
I obviously know what happened because I was there, but I’m
interviewing you guys so I need you
to tell everyone what went down.
Joey:
Well, we opened for Dierks Bentley two nights, Tuesday at the LA House of
Blues and Friday at the Vegas House of Blues.
Todd:
Good shows?
Joey:
They
were killer, and I never use the word killer.
Mike:
Discussing discussion disguised as discourse.
Todd:
What does that mean?
Joey:
No one
knows.
Todd:
Give me some highlights from the shows.
Joey:
Well, they were awesome. Be
sure to check out the photos from the Scrapbook section of our website.
We got an incredible response from the crowd, a truly amazing
audience that night and then, in the middle of Dierks’ set Marty Stuart
comes out and invites him to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
I mean, to think that we were lucky enough to just be there that
night, and then on top of that we were lucky enough to be the openers on
such a monumental evening. After
the show we went to the party upstairs and got to meet Marty Stuart who is
a terrific guy, not to mention incredibly influential to Hank Floyd.
Todd:
Right, but what about the girls?
Joey:
What?
Todd:
All that’s fine and dandy, but what about the girls that night?
Were they off the hook?
Joey:
Sure.
Todd:
Let me answer my own question: Yes, the girls in the audience that night
were off the hook and I hate to be geographically biased, but LA girls are
the best girls in the world.
Mike:
My soul is
like the ocean.
Joey:
Anyway, back to what we were actually talking about.
That night in LA was a landmark for us.
The show was awesome, but just hanging out with Marty Stuart and
Dierks’ posse was a blast. So
many people approached us that night at the party to tell us how much they
enjoyed our set. We could tell
you their names but then we’d have to kill you.
Mike:
Or at least make you feel as though you wished you had expired.
Todd:
Right, right. So what about
Vegas?
Joey:
Vegas was even more incredible. The
response we got in LA was unbelievable, but I think the response we got in
Vegas even surpassed that. Dierks
was kind enough to thank us during his set and asked the crowd to give us
another round of applause. We’ve
opened for a ton of big name acts and lemmetellya, they rarely thank us in
the middle of their set. We
don’t take offense to it. They’ve
got their minds on other things and we certainly don’t ever expect to be
thanked by the headliner. So
when Dierks when out of his way to thank us, it was extra special.
The guys in his band were gracious to us as well.
They were just ultra cool and made us feel at home.
Todd:
And the girls?
Joey:
(no response)
Mike:
(no response)
Todd:
Hey, shut it!
Joey:
I’m not saying anything.
Todd:
Then shut it already! Again,
I’ll answer my own question: The girls in Vegas were off the hook!
Joey:
It’s true they were, but I’m doing this for the music, man.
Mike:
I’m doing it for callus development.
Todd:
All right, gents, it’s time to sign off.
We’ll be updating soon, so anyone reading this be sure to check
back in a couple of weeks for a fresh update.
Joey:
Bye.
Todd:
Any parting words, Mike?
Mike:
Yes.
Todd:
Go ahead.
Mike:
Hhhhello.
Todd:
We’ll have to remember to ask you that question at the beginning next
time.
